QUICK ANSWER
What is a website audit?
A website audit reviews a site for problems that cost traffic, leads or security: SEO issues, slow pages, outdated software, broken forms, weak design and missing AI search signals. The Toffyjar free website audit is reviewed by a senior specialist and delivered with prioritized fixes.
CHECKS
What does the free website audit check?
Five areas, each with a score and top fixes.
BY THE NUMBERS
What do the numbers say about modern websites?
Google's Core Web Vitals define a good experience as Largest Contentful Paint within 2.5 seconds, Interaction to Next Paint of 200 milliseconds or less and Cumulative Layout Shift of 0.1 or less, measured at the 75th percentile of page loads (web.dev). WordPress is used by 39.7% of all websites and 58.5% of websites whose content management system is known, according to W3Techs (October 2026). WooCommerce runs on 19.8% of WordPress sites. Toffyjar prices website projects at about $199 per page, so a 10-page site is roughly $1,990 with a fixed quote, and dedicated developers cost $10 an hour or $18 an hour for senior developers. In practice, that means a business website should be fast by measurement, built on a platform teams can edit, and priced so the scope is clear before work starts.
AI
How does a website audit with AI work?
We use crawlers and AI tools to collect issues quickly, then a specialist decides which matter for your business. A website audit with AI alone tends to list hundreds of warnings; the human review turns that into five to ten actions.
REPORT
What do you get in the website audit report?
A short PDF with scores, the top issues in plain language, evidence and the fix for each, plus a 30-day action list.
| Section | Contents |
|---|---|
| Summary | Top 3 opportunities |
| SEO | Issues and fixes |
| Speed | Core Web Vitals |
| Security | Risks and fixes |
| AI visibility | Prompt results |
WHO
Who is the free website audit for?
Marketing leads and founders planning a redesign, recovering from a traffic drop, entering new markets, or simply wanting an outside view before spending on SEO or development.
WHY TOFFYJAR
Why get this from Toffyjar?
Our audits are reviewed by the same senior specialists who build and grow sites for clients in the US, UK and India, so the recommendations are practical and ship-ready. We publish our prices, never sell your data and never pressure you into a contract. If we cannot help, we say so.
TIMING
How quickly will you see results from website audit?
Most website projects launch in 3 to 8 weeks; larger enterprise builds take 2 to 4 months. Speed and conversion improvements show at launch and are measured from the first week with analytics and Core Web Vitals. Search gains from better structure and content typically build over 2 to 6 months after Google recrawls the new pages.
SAMPLE
What does a sample website audit finding look like?
Every finding in our report follows the same format so your team can act on it without a meeting. Each item states the issue, where it appears, why it matters for traffic or conversions, the fix and an effort estimate. Findings are ranked by impact and effort, so quick wins come first.
| Finding | Impact | Fix | Effort |
|---|---|---|---|
| Largest Contentful Paint over 2.5 s on mobile | Rankings, conversions | Compress hero image, preload font | Low |
| Duplicate title tags on service pages | Click-through rate | Unique titles per page | Low |
| No FAQ or answer-first copy | AI search visibility | Add question H2s with short answers | Medium |
| Outdated plugins | Security risk | Update on staging, then live | Low |
AREAS
Which areas does a full website audit cover?
A useful audit looks at the whole site, not just one tool's score. Ours covers six areas, each reviewed by a specialist rather than an automated report alone.
TOOLS
Free audit tools vs a reviewed website audit: what is the difference?
Automated tools such as PageSpeed Insights, Search Console and crawler software are useful, and we use them. On their own they produce long lists without priorities and miss context such as search intent, brand messaging or why a page does not convert. A reviewed audit turns raw data into a ranked plan for your business.
| Automated tool | Reviewed audit (Toffyjar) | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free | Free |
| Prioritized by impact | No | Yes |
| Checks AI search visibility | Rarely | Yes |
| Explains the fix | Generic | Specific to your site |
| Human review | No | Senior specialist |
PREPARE
What do you need to prepare for a website audit?
Very little. Send your website URL and the main goal, such as more leads, more sales or recovering lost traffic. If you can, give read access to Google Search Console and Google Analytics so we can check real queries and conversions, but the audit works without them. Tell us your top three competitors and any recent changes such as a redesign or migration. The report arrives within three working days, and you can book a call to walk through it. Read the website audit checklist if you want to run a first pass yourself.
PRIORITY
How are website audit fixes prioritized?
A long list of issues is not a plan. We score every finding on two axes: impact on traffic, leads or risk, and the effort to fix it. High impact, low effort items go first as quick wins your team can ship within a week. High impact, high effort items become a short roadmap with estimates. Low impact items are listed but parked so they do not distract. This keeps the audit useful after the call, not just interesting on the day.
EXAMPLE
What does a real audit result look like?
Our audits draw on the same measurement we use with clients. For example, one enterprise engineering site we work with ranks for 223 organic keywords with 37 in position one and 57 references in AI Overviews, measured with OpenSEO this month. See the enterprise case study for how audit findings turned into that result, and the case studies hub for more examples measured the same way.
DESIGN
What does a website design audit look at?
A design audit checks whether the site helps visitors decide. We review the first screen on mobile and desktop: is it clear what you do, for whom and what to do next? We check visual hierarchy, readability, contrast and tap targets against accessibility guidelines, consistency of components across pages, and how forms and CTAs perform. We also look at trust signals such as proof, pricing clarity and contact options. Each issue comes with a screenshot and a suggested fix, so your designer or our team can act on it quickly. Typical quick wins include clearer headlines, fewer competing CTAs and shorter forms.
WHO-REVIEWS
Who reviews your website audit?
Every audit is reviewed by a senior Toffyjar specialist with hands-on experience in WordPress, technical SEO and AI search, not passed straight from a tool to your inbox. The same team that builds and optimizes client sites checks your findings, so recommendations are practical to implement and sized to your budget.
PROOF
Sites we built, ranking today
We measured these results on 16 October 2026 using OpenSEO, which draws on DataForSEO ranking and backlink data. For example, in one case study an enterprise digital engineering company whose site Toffyjar built has 65 non-brand page-one rankings, 37 at #1, with 2,717 referring domains. In another, an AI insurance process automation platform has 13 non-brand top-10 rankings including #1 for underwriting software, with 2,578 referring domains. These are current figures, not before-and-after claims, and client names stay private under NDA. Every site was planned from a requirement sheet, built on staging, reviewed by senior people and handed over with the client owning the code, content and logins. Projects are priced at about $199 per page, and SEO and GEO retainers start at $499 a month. Ask for a reference on a discovery call and we will connect you with a client where they agree.
